Taking Time

I’m finding as I grow older that it’s not about finding time, it’s about making it. There are always so many things that keep me busy, most of it busy work. The crazy thing is that the busy work can so easily crowd out any time for other things, little things that matter – things like taking a few minutes to visit a friend or reading a story to your child.

Years ago I had a friend who always used the phrase, “Don’t sweat the small stuff. And it’s ALL small stuff.” I wasn’t sure I was on board with that thought then but I sure understand it now. Today was a good reminder that the things that really matter can’t be checked off a to-do list.

I hope that among my just enough days and my productive ones that I never forget to take time for the things that matter.

  1. I still think cloning should be an option. I’ll make my clone do all the boring stuff and I, of course, will do all the fun stuff.

Didn’t Michael Keaton star in a movie like this? ROFL

  2. I have a friend who taught me to say “It isn’t brain surgery” when I am ‘obsessing’ over something that really isn’t important in the grand scheme of things. And it always brings a laugh as we realize it is okay to lighten up.

What a great way to look at things! :)

  3. I so need to hear this. I am trying to get better at balancing things. The little things that matter are what are so important!

    Crazy but true isn’t it?

  4. HELLLLOOOOOOO!!!!

I have found that fitting in the things we have to do in between the things we want to do is a best approach. For example, I have to clean the toilet, so that gets done in the fifteen minutes between spending time with my little one, and going to pick my daughter up from school.

A little or a lot it all counts!

So true Angel. How have you been?
